Salem Travel Agency was founded on the 11th of June 1968. It started out in a small office at the corner of Zakher Hotel with a total staff strength of five people. Since its inception, the company has undergone several phases of expansion. A branch office located in the heart of the commercial centre of Al Ain, was opened in 1981 to cater the needs and growing demands of the inhabitants of Al Ain City. By 1983, the Main Office had moved from a merecubicle into its present prestigious building, the "Al Saman Towers", a fully owned building by the agency's proprietor Mr. Salem Al Saman, located in the hub of the business district on Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi.

Salem Travel Agency has always been highly competitive, and in line with this attitude Salem Tours was established in Abu Dhabi in 1992, a sub division dedicated entirely to outbound and inbound tour operations.

In 1993 it became a member of ASTA, the American Society of Travel Agents, and JATA, the Japan Association of Travel Agents. In the same year, Salem Travel Agency expanded to established a subsidiary company, Salem Freight International, to provide our growing clientele with a comfortable service. In 1994, Salem Freight International was appointed the exclusive agent for two leading international cargo companies, one from USA, and another from Germany.

Salem Travel agency became the General Sales Agent for Syrian Arab Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines & Pan American in the year 1971. These appointments brought instant recognition thereby strengthening the agency's foundation and prestige.Late 1974 we acquired SAS Scandinavian Airlines followed by Al Yemen - Airlines of Yemen in 1976, Thai Airways in 1978, Cyprus Airways in 1979, Varig Brazilian Airlines in 1984, China Airlines in 1985, American Airlines in 1994, Air Mauritius, Olympic Airlines in 2002 and Turkish Airlines in 2003, SN Brussels Airlines in 2005.
 
Salem Travel Agency is now rated as one of the top leading travel agency in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain with professional and highly experienced staff strength of over 110 who have contributed to maintaining its success by providing a One Stop Travel Shop. It boast of a well decorated head office spread over afloor space area of more than 1200 sq.m. A dedicated "VIP Corporate Office" also exists for exclusive corporate clientele, providing the highest standard of personalized service. Other office locations are within the city limits in Madinat Zayed, Hamdan Street, Mussafah Industrial Area, Abu Dhabi International Airport. Our office in Al Ain is also situated right in the heart of business district.
